Great to be back to work after some bad weather and a much needed rest.

We smashed it today on bars, single lures, dead baits and live baits,we even got the popping rod into some live bait action.🤦‍♂️

The BITE was definitely on today and we racked up some big numbers very quickly with no time to even have a sandwich🤣

Father and son going at it 💥 but there will definitely be some sore arms and legs tonight 😁

Exactly this time last week we was celebrating taking first place and crowned the first ever champions at the first ever Bluefin Tuna tournament in the UK held in Falmouth Cornwall.

The event was a great success and showcased our amazing catch and release fishery perfectly and was great to see so many skippers, crews and anglers enjoying such a great and well organised event.

Tournament day itself seen us take a regular charter of 3 anglers who have never fished for tuna before so firstly we had to concentrate on catching our crew some tuna whilst trying to get some where on the leader board which is not an easy task.

A very special and historic 8am shot gun start was something special and seen us all shooting off in the search for fish.

Well it didn’t take long and we found ourselves waiting for the 8:30 lines in rule and once the lines where in it was less than 5 minutes before we got our first hook up but unfortunately we lost the fish after about 10 minutes and it was at this point it was clear there was fish everywhere to be seen and with having a rule where you could only measure your first 6 fish with the biggest 3 being your total it was very clear that some how we had to try and avoid the smaller fish.

So plan A which presented itself to us was fishing around a couple of stern trawlers which over the years we have taking some big fish from and plan B was fishing inshore to single out the big ones.

Plan A worked a treat and we took 2 fine 71” fish very quickly along with a 67” fish and a couple of slightly smaller ones so with five fish measured and confident that would put us on the score board we only had one more fish to put on our score card so plan B for our last fish seen us head inshore in hope for a bigger one.

Well it wasn’t long before we had some action but unfortunately it turned out to be a thresher, exciting to see but not what we wanted, after a short while and with the clock ticking we had a massive take and fish ON,well unfortunately it didn’t last long as the centre line parted.

That thresher had clearly damaged the line and our moment of possibly adding one more big fish was over.

We did go on to add our 6 fish but it was our smallest and that was us done so lines in and headed back early.

The total length of our 3 biggest fish added up to 209 inches which seen us take the top spot by 9 inches we also took another prize for the longest total of all 6 fish.

Fishing against some of the finest tuna skippers in the country was a honour and a pleasure and it’s going to be tough to defend our title next year but of course we look forward to the challenge.

thank you everyone who organised and supported the event and we look forward to participating again next year.

Busy day on deck with the Devon Lads.

Didn’t see much signs of life for the morning but still managed multiple hook ups from blind strikes.

As the morning went on we started to see some fish rising and more signs of life which resulted in many more fine bluefins to the boat.

Day OFF tomorrow 🙌😁

Had a great three days with these guys both with the fishing and a laugh a minute plus not forgetting the breakfast baps 😁

The first day we was spoilt with tuna every where and them all getting several fish each pretty quick.

They was keen to mix it up with single lures, surface lures and live baits which of course needs a little more patience and practice so whilst we waited they enjoyed catching plenty of mackerel, scad, whiting and even Bass until the ballon went screaming off.

The live baiting seemed the popular choice so hopefully they will be back next year for more tuna fishing and to get that top water fish.
